Kenley is just amazing in the mornings. I love what a good night sleep can do for a little kid. Waking her up or going in to get her in the mornings is one of my favorite parts of a regular day. Friday morning she just wasn't ready to get up and we had lots of time on the bed just chatting, smiling and being silly. I got lots of extra laughs too because Friday her hair was ESPECIALLY CRAZY! Gotta love those wild strands and curls. I made Clay come and check it out and grab the camera too. These pics are just screaming to be shared. The second still cracks me up with the expression he caught ;o) Hope your weekend isn't "Crazy" like Stinker's hair! We have a nice weekend planned so I'll be sure to update more later but I hear Kenley in her room ready to get up so it's time to go check this morning's "hair" situation.

A weekend full of nothing in particular...
We had one of those weekends Clay has been waiting for....a weekend full of nothing in particular. No big plans, nothing to specifically do, just a weekend to enjoy.
Friday started with my 28 week doctor appt and although it took longer than expected (with the doctor running a bit behind) it all went well. I passed my glucose test and my hemoglobin numbers were great. I got my RhoGAM shot and discussed a few of my questions. All in all set to go back at 30 weeks and keep moving right along.
Saturday was our day of errands but we all seemed to enjoy doing them together. We hit the grocery store and Sam's Club. We are going to TRY to start doing the major grocery shopping for 2 weeks at a time with just a few things (like produce and milk) in between. Our first attempt seems to be successful thus far and we somehow came up with enough ideas for 2 weeks worth of dinners. I'm not sure where the rest of Saturday went but it was an enjoyable day. Kenley was all smiles and laughs and took a great 2.5 hour nap.
Yesterday was also just peaceful and relaxed at the Brockman house. We got a lazy start to the day and Kenley actually slept until almost 730 which is just unheard of! We spent the morning playing outside and enjoying the sunshine. Clay worked a bit on cleaning up the 3rd stall of the garage and it's looking much better. I got the parent of the day award when I let Kenley have ice cream for lunch. The ice cream truck came thru and we decided to check it out, so we had our rainbow push up pop before lunch.
As you can see, we weren't messy at all ;o) After we got cleaned up, we had some real lunch, but she wanted to sit at the table like a big girl.
We also played a nice game of "hide" where she just covers her eyes to hide and then expects you to do the same.
After lunch and our nap (again 2.5 hours long.. man she finally has this napping thing down) we went to see my friend Liz. Liz had her beautiful baby last week and we decided to take them down some dinner and visit for a bit. Here is Kenley checking out baby Sadie....
and even giving her a little kiss...
Kenley was very excited with the baby around. She would almost scream BABY with big smiles. Even when Sadie cried Kenley said "baby cry." It was super cute. Kenley also got to see Big Sister Rylee and Big Brother Braden in action. Clay and I neither one remember life with a baby that little so it shold be interesting to see how life changes in a few months when Baby Brockman arrives. At least it seems Kenley will be excited at first which seems like a good sign to me.
So there you have it.. another weekend in the books. Nothing BIG planned, but it was enjoyable and relaxing. I know I seem to only write about our weekends but I'm sure you readers don't really want the details of our exciting weekday activities. It's just work work work... working for another weekend with our stinks!

28 weeks
Well it's official, we enter the 3rd trimester this week and it really is the a race to the finish. These next 12 weeks (or so given baby may come early or late...) will be a blur I'm sure and we have lots to do. I did manage to get a small start on the baby's room just putting a few things on the shelves out of the closet. I need to get the closet a little more organized and then work on filling the dresser with all the gender neutral clothes I can find from the basement stash. I also made my first bigger purchase for baby#2. Well really it's prob a purchase for Clay and I but we decided to get a new diaper pail. One that doesn't smell so STINKING bad (well not yet anyway!!). I took my glucose test last week on Thursday. It was a boring 2 hours and I had a nice little bruise from drawing blood 3 times but my results posted online this weekend and according to Dr. Google, it looks like I passed. I'll get the official results at the dr on Friday afternoon for my 28 week appt. I'm interested to see me weight since according to what I just read on baby center, I'm due to gain another approx 11lbs. I'm feeling good and the insomnia hasn't hit yet (knock on wood.) I'm dealing with the hip pain from sleeping on my side and the pressure weight when I stand too fast and try to walk.
We do read Kenley her Big Sister book a lot and try to tell her that we are going to have a baby but who knows if she understands the big changes coming her way. All she knows right now is that she walks like a big girl because I can't always carry her and that includes up and down the stairs. She is getting to be a pro and I think it's good for her.
We did go ahead and take new belly pics today. Definitely looking pregnant now so watch out as this belly will continue to grow ;o)

Weekend rewind
We had another wonderful weekend that of course went by too quickly.
Friday after work, Clay and I met with the landscaper. We have a credit from our retaining wall so have decided to go ahead and have more work done and build our sitting wall around the patio and the built in for Clay's grill. While were talked we also asked about some general landscaping in the area as well. We should hear back Monday and I'm hoping to get that underway soon.(One more thing off the list!)
Then we decided that we needed a Friday afternoon break and wanted to go see a movie. We went to see The Change Up with Jason Bateman and Ryan Renyolds. Now granted this "switch places" premise has been done over and over but it was a funny movie and well worth the trip. When we got home from the movies my mom was here for the night.
Saturday morning my mom and I had plans to take Kenley to the Summer Splash swim event thru work. It was a little chilly at first but we had a blast. Kenley also got to play with Mel's daughter Marlie and that was fun too! Here are some of the pics...
Then Saturday for lunch we headed to Meatheads. DOUBLE YUM!!! Kenley must know that place is business because she ate more than I thought was ever possible. She finished off the ft long hotdog, some of the bread, fries, yogurt, and applesauce. HOLY SMOKES! Clay and I both enjoyed our Texas Ranch burgers (and just typing this makes me want to go back!) I decided to take a few pics at lunch and we caught the cutest video of Kenley doing the "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and trying to snap (which is our new thing). (Both would have been better without the plate but she was insistent on using a prop.)
After a long morning out we came home to play. Our funny game we couldn't get enough of was tumbling over Grandma C. Oh to have this girl's energy!
My mom left during nap time and the rest of the evening flew by. Today we haven't done much of anything. We had the windows open to enjoy the beautiful day and we took a short shopping trip to Kohl's to get Clay some new shoes for when he plays basketball on Thursdays. We did check out a new park and had an impromptu lunch at McDonald's. All in all a perfect weekend. I'm ready for more!

Kenley's 1st trip to the zoo
I had been wanting to take Kenley to the zoo for awhile now but we never really had (or made) the time, but Sunday was the day ;o)
We tried to tell her where we were going and she would repeat it to us, "Zooo."
Here we are headed in...
We checked out the wallabies first and she seemed to like them. She watched them hop around.
We saw some monkeys and some birds which we liked but the next item was the otter and he was a BIG HIT! We found out his name was Ozzie when one of the zoo staff stopped by and got him to come out of the water. He was just swimming back and forth and if he would stop, Kenley would just say "Again!" like he would listen to her ;o)
After the otter we found the sea lion. We were excited because we were going to get to watch them feed the sea lion shortly after we arrived. Kenley liked the sea lion as long as it was in the water but as the feeding got closer and the sea lion got excited and started to BARK, we weren't so sure.
As you can see in this short clip, she isn't quite sure about it...
However when the feeding started (and the "show" with the toys and tricks), she did a bit better. She would go up to the glass and watch for a minute until the sea lion jumped out and then she would walk away just saying "NOPE!" She didn't see as frightened as she may have sounded at first in the video. She must have gone back and forth a dozen times. Then we decided it was time to move on and see the big cats... but not before stopping to smell the pretty flowers.
She liked the big cats but paid no interest to the sun bear. The snow leopard seemed to like her too. It would prowl up and down following her and even jumped on the wall a few times.
We explored the rest of the zoo and tried the carousel. We weren't fond of it. I think it was too loud and the animals moved too fast (even though we were sitting on the bench.) She did like the koi pond and we even got to feed them. She also tried to pet the cockroach they had out in the Zoo lab. That thing was HUGE! (Yes I touched it but it was weird.) Here are some pics of us exploring and the carousel.
By far one of our favorite things was at the end of the day. We sat to watch the bobcat and he prowled about coming up to the fence for a closeup view.
All in all a wonderful trip and I'm looking forward to taking her again.. it's a small zoo but nice and very kid friendly for her age. We let her walk most of the time and Sunday morning it wasn't crowded at all. We got back to the car and had planned on some McDonald's for a lunch time treat but within minutes this is what we saw...
She was plain tuckered out. It wasn't even close to her normal 2pm naptime. She took a nice cat nap on the way home and the roused back up for lunch and some play before our real nap. I told Clay she just needed some mental time to process all the great stuff she had seen. What a great 1st trip to the ZOOOOO!

Firing off a great weekend!
Hey everybody! The Brockmans are still here just busy as always. I have to wonder if life will ever slow down but I think with Baby #2 coming the answer to that is PROBABLY NOT! We are having a great weekend and for the first time in awhile we don't really have anything planned. Clay ended up taking yest (Friday) off and after a quick trip to the grocery store in the morning after dropping off Stinks, he spent the day recharging. He enjoyed some video game time and even watched an afternoon movie. I went to work like normal and then filled my afternoon with a haircut and my 26 week (technically 26w4d) dr appt to check on Stinks 2.0. The day seemed to fly by. We did also manage to get Kenley's box springs in her room and she didn't miss a beat last night sleeping in there. It's taller and harder for her to climb in but she can do it. Now the nursery isn't as crowded and I can get in there and get prepared for baby.
Today (Saturday) my mom and dad made a rocket run up to deliver their old picnic table. Clay and I decided to use it until we budget/find the patio furniture we want. Our friend Lee was nice enough to come over and help unload it. THANKS LEE! This afternoon we went to the Dollar Store for some coloring books and Kenley also wanted a puppy, so of course since it was $1, mommy couldn't say no. I have a cute video on my phone I'll try to post later if I can find the adapter to get it transferred to the computer. Kenley fell asleep in the car on the way home and it was so cute to watch Clay carry her in and put her to bed. Melts my heart everytime!! She's still sleeping but should be up soon to enjoy the rest of the evening.
Tomorrow I'd like to maybe take a trip to the local zoo but Clay thinks it will be too hot. I'm sure we will come up with something to do and have a great time doing. I hope the rest of you are Firing off a great (and relaxing) weekend too!

Those little "to dos"
Lately I've been annoyed, bothered, agitated, nagged by those little "to dos" that run thru my head. It's not the work ones. Those don't bother me although they sometimes pop in my head at off hours like my 3am bathroom break but I keep those written down and they seem to just be. However the list for those little to dos at home is just bugging me. Do you know what I mean? Do you have your own list of those little "to dos." They aren't important particularly significant (I struggle for a word here). They don't stop my day to day life and I know eventually most of them will get done, but they just bug me. My list currently has some things left from moving like organize the linen closet, hang the pics in our room, find all the appliance manuals, organize the garage, etc. It has random things like put K's bed on the box springs, go thru the maternity clothes I borrowed to determine what I'm keeping so I can give the rest back and my closet can feel together again, iron K's bedskirt (and I hate to iron), and dust the banister railings. And then there are the things that I just feel "behind on" like getting Kenley's Shutterfly photobook done for her 1st year and starting the next one. I did manage to do a few little things last night. I printed off pics last week from Shutterfly so I added more to her baby book and finished the last page of her scrapbook that Grandma B did with birthday pics. But I don't feel like I'm making any progress and everytime I cross some little thing off the list I seem to create 2 or 3 more. I know part of it is just my overly obsessive need to be in control feel accomplished and "polished." Maybe it's good that I struggle with this.. maybe it's a chance to grow....I know I changed a lot a little when Kenley was born. I did learn to let go a little bit but maybe this is the universe's way of telling me I still need to let go some more. Anywho... anyone else have a list? What's on your "to do" list that's bugging you?
