Dining room and more

Well today we got one of the last furniture pieces for the Hotel Brockman. We got our new dining room table.  We looked around but the furniture store selection in town is very limited. We found something that I think looks nice and fit our budget.
Previously our dining area looked like this...
The table was a hand me down and super old. Clay and I have had it since we moved in together in 2002 and it's seem better days. One of the chairs is covered in paint, one has a chewed up leg or two from Chibi, and one wobbles.
However, now it looks like this...
I talked myself into doing 6 chairs instead of just the 4 we originally planned. This is the table without the leaf out. It expands to a square table so it could seat 8 if we wanted. I will have to decide if we are keeping all 6 chairs around it or not or if we have room to expand it all the time. It will be super nice for holidays and having a few guests even if a few of the chairs will have boosters :) I'm very pleased with the new look and will totally be hitting up Pintrest to find a centerpiece idea for the holiday season! I'm also glad I no longer have the table cloth to worry about. That thing was constantly dirty or being washed.

While the dining room was empty this afternoon/evening Kenley asked several times "Where table go?" and we told her we were getting a new one. However in the meantime she had to have dinner with her friends so she made her own "table and chairs."

She made sure every guest was comfortable and had the proper eating utensils.

Her imagination is remarkable and Clay and I get such a kick out of watching her "Pretend" and play. Even yesterday she decided it was naptime for everyone and she got everyone lined up with their own pillow and blankets.

She also made sure to feed and burp everyone. She is very caring (and this shows with the help she gives for Baby Chase too.) Now some of her behavior mimics real life as she started trying to feed Minnie today with some "Mommy milk"
She really is a sponge and will do anything and say anything she sees or hears. I just love watching her learn and process it all. I kept her home these past 2 days from the sitter (as the sitter had a sick kid) and while challenging the first day, today went well and I've loved having the special time together.  I tried to take their picture together today and this was the best I got...
The lil' man was a bit more cooperative but of course he was oblivious to it all :) (and he can't run away yet!)
Tomorrow we will send Kenley back to the sitter and I'm having a friend and her new baby girl for lunch. Then Friday, Ms. Laura Suga will be swinging by and we take Chase to the dr for his 2 week checkup. I'm anxious to see how much weight he has gained so I can rest assured that he is getting enough to eat. Not much planned this weekend although we'd like to take Kenley for another haircut and we will enjoy more quiet time at home. Life is good!!!

Sounds like things are going very well for you. Do you have to pay for your sitter even though you have this time off? It is nice you could have Kenley home with you for a few days anyway. As a teacher of two to fives, I want to tell you that Kenley appears to be advanced in her play skills, probably in part due to her time at Day Care.

Thanks Sherri! We think she plays very well and shows some imagination :) Yes still have to pay the sitter regardless if Kenley is there or not so we try to send her to keep the routine and so she can play with her friends. She will be staying home again tomorrow though as she has a double ear infection and a fever.
