My sister-in-law and nieces were here for the week last week. The time together went by much too quickly. We miss them already and have several posts worth of pictures and stories but time to share just one tonight :) It was a rainy day Friday so we decided to take them bowling. My MIL and FIL came up to join in the fun.
Sophie had been before but it was a first for Kenley. I may or may not have been beaten by my 2 year old niece but I can come up with several justifications if needed :)
I just wanted to share some videos of the girls and their bowling skills.
Pretty darn cute if you ask me!

Oogie Oogie Oogielove!
A few weeks ago, my mother in law sent an email asking if she could take Kenley to her first movie around Labor Day when this "interactive" movie Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure came out. She saw a preview and thought it looked like fun. There was going to be dancing and singing and she promised it would be fun. I wasn't overly excited but agreed there would be potential that she could take her. Then when my sister-in-law and neices ended up in IL and everyone ended up in Bloomington on the rainy Labor Day weekend, we thought it may be a good time. So off we went to the movie. It was a girls trip.
The girls were excited and although I don't think they knew what they were in for they charged in for the adventure. The plot was about what I expected but the girls seemed to enjoy it. Kenley really got into the interaction (and eating the popcorn!) We made sure Grandma B got up and kept movin' and groovin' too.
At the end we let them out of the row and Kenley took to dancing all over the theater. She really busted out the moves.
Here is the video proof :)
In reality the movie flopped and actually was the worst 3 day opening in history. It only averaged about $207 per theater and we were $30 of it the day we went to our theater. But these 2 year olds and their grandma had a good time. I'll admit too that I enjoyed myself watching Kenley enjoy the experience. It makes a good "first time movie experience." She's already asking to go again!

Applause please
Someone finally figured out how to clap, so I think a round of applause is in order.
Rain...
Today was a rainy day. It was one of those days that begs you to stay in pajamas all day and lounge around on the couch under blankets instead of tackle things on the ever present to do list. It was a day for naps, cuddles and movie marathons or watching "froggies" (Kenley's current favorite show about the alphabet) over and over. But it held adventure too.
During the rain this morning Kenley asked to walk so she could splash in the puddles. She knew we could take an umbrella and was more than willing to wear her swim shoes and a jacket. I figured what better activity to do on a rainy day but actually enjoy the rain. So "Why Not?" we took a walk in the rain.
It's nice to have someone to walk with you in the rain and splash in the puddles.
Chase bub enjoyed the rain too. We opened the window for a bit and he immediately crawled over to check it out. He even got a little upset when he couldn't go on the walk with us but he had fun staying behind with Clay.

Weekends just "fly" by...
I don't know about you but we flew thru another weekend here at the Hotel Brockman and like every weekend, it went too fast.
Saturday we had a nice visit from my folks. We did lunch and took Kenley to get her hair cut. It was the 1st time Kenley has sat like a big girl in the chair by herself. Usually she wants to sit on my lap. This time she had some "friends" with her and they all did great sitting up in that chair.
Today the girls went to the park and Sam's while the boys stayed home. This afternoon flew by with naps and now as always it's Sunday night and time to go to bed and face another week. Hope it flys by just as fast and next weekend's fun can begin. Until then...

Fantastic Friday Fair Food Fun
Say that 5 times fast! Friday, Clay and I took off work, drop the kids off at the sitter and went to the State Fair with my inlaws. It was a good time! We hadn't been in a few years and we mainly go for the food so we went ready to eat :)
Liz gave me a good idea that I should photo blog everything we had to eat that day. Looking back it doesn't seem like as much as you might expect but we definitely didn't leave hungry.
Technically we started the day with a bagel and some coffee from Panera and I added a banana to my breakfast. Sorry no picture here.
First item at the fair was a sample of hot dogs from Oscar Mayer. They were part of the new "select" line and very tasty. One had garlic and spices and the other had tomato, dill and something else.
We were stalking out the Wiener-mobile in hopes to get Liz a wiener whistle for Braden. Turns out you had to have your picture taken to "earn" a whistle so, of course we did.
From there we hit the Fried What? stand and I finally tried the infamous fried Snickers bar and Clay had some fried Oreos.
I preferred the Snickers. The Oreos seemed strange since they had no crunch.
Next Clay had a BBQ pork sandwich. A little light on the sauce but it smelled good.
Instead of porking it up, I went for some standard nachos and a few spicy jalapenos.
Then back to fried food fun. We hit up the mini donuts!
Shook things up with a Lemon Shake UP.
And wrapped up the fair with some Culler's fries with vinegar.
We checked out the "famous" 3 room log home made from a really really REALLY old tree.
Had an utterly fantastic time checking out the 90 year old butter cow :)
And of course checked out all of the animals. Here I just finished feeding the llama. I didn't know my MIL was taking any pictures so she actually caught me talking to it. I look a little crazy.
ONe of the other things we did was check out the Phineas and Ferb Disney area and the Perry the Platypus Platybus. We even did an interactive and danced with Dr. Doofenshmirtz.
All in all a successful and fun trip to the fair!

Youch!
Just a few updates... Chase bub went to the doctor for his 9month check up on Friday. He weighed in at 21lbs 13.5oz and is 30inches long. Still my big bub! Little man was in good spirits until we had to mess with his little man. Apparently he had an adhesion and his skin was growing back together. The doctor had to manually pull it back and said it was like a "manual circumcision" so he would be a bit uncomfortable for a few days. I guess so..YOUCH! We also gave him a shot and pricked his finger. Really, he recovered from all of them like a champ and although a little fussy Friday he is still his cute self. He also finally took off and put the crawling thing together :) He is now mobile an on the move. It's so cute!!!
Kenley also has been very "caring" lately. She will rock and shhh her baby penguin when she says he is upset or crying. Well this weekend she also started caring for the mommy and daddy ducks. She was taking their temps (rectally) and was careful to use some Vasoline. She even asked for a bandaid for the daddy duck at one point. I didn't pay attention to what she did with it but when we sat down for dinner, I got a good laugh.
I guess she may have thought he had a boo boo after taking his temp. YOUCH! Too funny!
In other updates, we went swimming this weekend and since it was too cold we ended up playing on the sand for the volleyball court. It was the first time Kenley would play in the sand so there may be hope for a beach vacation yet. She also asked in all seriousness if that was the beach :) It too was cute.

67 68 things you may have missed....
Wow! I know I know. You may be surprised to read this. It's been awhile. I always wondered what happened to people that used to blog and then somehow they just stop. Well now I know. There isn't any 1 thing that happens. It's a combination of the little everyday things and it just boils down to the thing we call LIFE. In a way I have been busy and in the same way I haven't. It's such a weird mix. I have missed blogging and I have missed my readers. I hope you have missed me a bit and are happy to see a post...and yes you can let out that deep breath and say FINALLY! (I know you want to!)
So what to talk about... well there are so many things to talk about even if they are small, so I thought I'd just give you67 68 things you missed in the last 67 68 days. (Big hopes I can come up with 67 68 as I start this!)
In completely random order as they come to mind...
1. We hired a cleaning lady. I'm pretty sure I was on the brink of a breakdown. I felt stressed over every little thing at home and the chores hung over my head like a dark cloud. Mainly she cleans the bathrooms and the floors but it's so nice. Takes something off of my ever growing "to do" list and it's well worth it to me.
2. We had family pictures taken. I'd been meaning to get them done since Chasey was about 6 months old. Now I actually have printed pictures of him and up to date family pics. It was only about a billion degrees the day we took them outside but they turned out great. Here are a few of my faves.
3. I had the above pictures printed for the living room. Now just need to get them framed and hung. We've only lived in the house for more than 1 year and don't have anything hanging downstairs except a picture in the half bath. HA!
4. I also bought some artwork for my orange kitchen wall and I love it. Picture to come when it's hung but I will say it's colorful :)
5. My Sister-in-law, brother-in-law, and nieces came to visit in June. My MIL and FIL were here too and we had a great family visit. It was awesome to see Kenley and Sophia together.
6. It was funny to see Chasey and Naomi side by side. My little niece is 6 days OLDER than Chaser but you would never guess.
7. My favorite goat at the petting zoo portion at Miller Zoo died :( Random but hey like I said, I have to get to 67 somehow.
8. Work is busy busy busy!! And as part of my attempt to not have a breakdown, I changed my hours. I gave up my Friday afternoons and now work M-F 730am-345ish. I never get out of there on time but I needed to change because I wasn't getting out of there until 5 or later and by the time I got home it was past dinner time with no dinner made and then right to bath and bed for kids and it was too hectic. Now we have time to make dinner and play. We even try to take a walk when we can and I'm enjoying it much more. Can still be hectic with 2 kids but not as hectic :)
9. During my blogging absence Chase turned 7 months old, 8 months old, and now 9 months old. He is growing much too fast!
10. Apparently I like Chase to wear red when I take his monthly picture :) Boy he looks good in red.
11. He is wearing his shirt backwards in 2 of the pictures above because I was too lazy to change it for the picture. Hey, it worked!
12. Chase has 3 teeth now but they are all on the bottom. No sign of the top teeth. Weird!
13. All this red makes me think of the 4th of July parade. Kenley and I tagged along with Liz, Lee, and the kids and had a great time. I think this picture looks like they are singing.
14. Kenley really enjoyed having Chibi here in June. She likes puppies.
15. The house across the street from us FINALLY sold. It was built the same time as ours and has just been sitting empty. I haven't met them yet but Clay met the guy. They have a new baby boy. That will be nice to finally have a kid on our street and one about Chase's age and potentially even in the same class.
16. We did fun run this summer and well, it was fun! Kenley didn't really want to run at first. We had her in the 2 and under group and she wanted to be carried and I was practically running over other kids. We started running with the 3 year olds. We ran with Rylee a few times (although Rylee is super fast) and decided that worked better. It's an entire lap around and I run with her. Does that count as my exercise? Well, anyway. We got a ribbon each week and last week (the last run) we got our very first trophy! Grandma Verna, Grandpa Tom and Grandma Cheryl all got to see her run different weeks. We can't wait to do it all next year and maybe even have Chasey do a lap.
17. Apparently, washing dishes naked is the best way to do it. Who knew?
18. Never build your house by a house that has a sprinkler system and money to spend watering the grass during the world's worst summer. Our grass is crunchy, dry, dead, brown, insert boring adjective here. Our neighbor's yard on the other hand is lush, green, thriving, soft. It's quite depressing.
19. I joined the bandwagon and read the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy. Quick and easy reads. They should be called the legitimate "Twilight" series for women in their 30s. What can I say, I'll go see the movie when it comes out. I'm sure the book will be better.
20. On a related note, I've been reading a LOT on my Kindle. I really enjoy it and I love the free books from Pixel of Ink. I've read a few books by Stephanie Bond too and they were good. I think everyone that enjoys to read should have a Kindle. (There...sales pitch over)
21. We inherited a few bikes. Now we just have to learn to ride them. They say you never forget. Oh I mean we have to make time to ride them. I'm sure we remember :) I took Kenley out the other day and my muscles reminded me for days they remembered how but just weren't happy about it.
22. Chase had his first wagon ride. I don't think he stopped moving his feet the entire time :)
23. I'm down to pumping 2x a day. I know none of you really care but it's a huge step for me wrapping it up. I've got a stockpile in the fridge so I decided to reclaim another small part of my day. Too bad I have to give up the "personal break" at work as I enjoyed reading during that time but it's nice to have less time with that machine. It's sad but I just did the math to figure out that I only have 89 days until Chase is 1 year and I will be more than done pumping. (I'm hoping to end earlier than that) 89 days would only be 178 more times to pump. Let the countdown commence.
24. I've only used 5 :) so far in the post. (And 1 :( face)
25. You are tempted to go back and count.
26. You hate those stupid lists that do things like that.
27. But if I told you I skipped #11 you'd go back and check that too :) (That makes 6) Wow I'm desperate but this is taking forever to get to 67 (,
28. Chase is SO SO close to crawling. It feels like he has been rocking and scooting forever and he is a master at rolling anywhere he needs to go. He even uses his head as an anchor to pivot and turn.
29. His newest trick is sitting up and it's so cute when I go in there in the middle of the night and he is sitting up just looking around or chewing on his blanket. (Please read this as he STILL isn't completely sleeping thru the night. I've had a handful of nights recently where he will make it to 5am which is thru the night but not until my alarm. Getting so close)
30. They shouldn't make halter tops for young girls. It's not fair. They look too cute.
31. Time to give a "Thumbs up" on a job well done. For a few weeks, Kenley would give us a thumbs up like this:
She now does it correctly but it was so cute. However now she says she just needs one more wif her fumb (with her thumb). The cuteness never ends.
32. May be too much for some readers but my laugh revolves around poop at times. Since we started potty training back in May things have gone the wrong direction. Kenley did great for the first few weeks and then something happened and she just completely stopped pooping. She holds it in and its a battle to keep her going. Long story short she hasn't been our regular little girl. We go thru this cycle over and over and when she gets super clingy and fussy it's very hard on me. I'm ready for it to be over even if I have to buy diapers forever.
33. We haven't been watering but many people in the neighborhood do and one of our favorite things to do is run thru everyone else's sprinklers. It's only the ones that hit the sidewalks but its great fun! Kenley and I even walked home from a friend's on the 4th July and stopped for nearly 10 minutes to run thru some neighborhood sprinklers. Apparently the owners were watching from inside and enjoying the show.
34. Yes, look closely, that's Kenley and I enjoying some time at the park. We made the newspaper. I guess we are now famous!
35. After more than 10 years, Clay and I retired the old handme down bed and got a new KING bed. It is fabulous. Just wish I got more sleep now.
36.We've made a few trips this summer to my MIL & FIL's campground. At the edge of the campground is a property with a field and a horse. Kenley adores the horse (whose name is Newt). We've gotten him to come to the fence and I've petted him. I've even fed him flowers that Kenley has picked. Now our #1 goal is to feed him an apple but everytime we take one he's not out. I guess we try again next time.
37. The next string of updates all go together in a weird Kim Brockman kind of way. SPeaking of horses, Kenley really likes the horse (Maximus) in the moving Tangled. We've been watching that movie a lot and I really enjoy it. I just love Disney movies.
38. If you have seen the movie you know they launch the "Floating lights" which are really floating lanterns. I now want to do that sometime and have added it to my Bucket List.
39. Yes I have a Bucket List. I had one long ago BK (Before Kids) and I know it had lots of travel stuff on it. I don't know where it is so I have a new one in my head. Things on it include (in no particular order) launch the floating lantern, ride in a hot air balloon, go sky diving, shoot a gun (at a target), go to New York, take a cruise, ride a tandem bike, and many others. What's on your list?
40. On still a related note, the Brockmans have decided to travel to Disney in 2014. Now there's some planning! I guess we will be going with the Herron family. Time to start saving.
41. On a whim a few weeks ago I decided I wanted to learn how to fold a fitted sheet. Should be easy enough, right? Wrong... even with videos and my FIL's help I couldn't repeat the feat more than 1 time. Now they are just haphazardly folded and taunting me.
42. We've actually managed to go swimming a few times this summer and it's been great. We've gone a few times at the campground and a few times at the local public pool. Kenley is loving the water and learning to jump off the edge as well as allowing me to dunk her.
She really likes wearing the swim vest and after a little coaxing enjoyed the water slide.
43. I even went down the water slides this last weekend at the pool. Not something I usually do. I should definitely do it more.
44. Clay enjoyed a few jumps in the deep end.
45. I've really been craving a beach vacation. Heck I'd really just take a beach day. I will admit I selfishly want to go alone, take my book and even nap. Just sounds like a great "me" day.
46. We played softball the other day at work as part of our company's United Way campaign. My work team had a team and yes, we were bad ass. I went 1 for 3 but made contact with each at bat. Made me want to play in a rec league but where would that time come from? HA!
47. We have been really bad about going to the grocery store lately. Mainly it's me not wanting to make the stupid list because I feel like we eat the same things all the time. No list=no store= no groceries. It's been a bad cycle and we are trying to break it.
48. I've gotten some slack about not blogging but others have been really supportive knowing that it's busy around here. In all honesty I just haven't made time. I've been lounging when I can and after pumping before bed and watching some tv (and after an entire day on the computer) I just don't do it. I'm hoping I still have some readers when I pick this up again even if still more sporadic.
49. I forgot how good cantaloupe is. My parents brought some a few weeks ago and it was delicious. Kenley even enjoyed it and I think ate her weight in it by the time the bucket was empty. YUM!!!
50. I've decided recently that laundry never ends, but I'm glad for the delayed start feature on the washer and a husband that comes home for lunch and remembers to switch out the loads. What would I do without him?
51. I'd like to post more videos but the internet is acting up. I wanted to share one with Chase's laugh. It's my favorite sound in the entire world and you can't help but smile or laugh along. I would dare you to try and keep a straight face watching him laugh, but stupid computer.. I'll just leave you with this picture of him blowing raspberries at me while Kenley gets in trouble in the background.
52. Wow, 52... are you still reading this? It's totally hard to do this late at night when I'm tired. But I'm determined now. And yes this one counts!
53. I'm getting braver giving Chase food. I was so scared with Kenley and I'm still very reserved with Chase but I'm trying. I do get big laughs from his faces when he eats. I'm just glad he will pretty much eat anything. He doesn't seem as picky as Kenley was (and still is!)
54. I've been wanting to run again. I miss that runner's high and think it would be good to try again. However, like everything else I'm not making time for it. Can I blame the heat? Sure, I'll blame the heat.
55. Had a proud moment when I thought I may have a cheerleader in the making. Here is Kenley doing her first shoulder stand. The dismount needs a little work but she was solid. I still have it!
56. We like to mess up Chasey's hair or give him a mohawk. It's funny!
57. I can't remember when but I did win a tourist basket on the Bloomington Normal Tourist facebook page. So now I get to spend the night at the Vrooman Mansion. I'm secretly excited. Just need to book it (and find a sitter!)
58. Clay switched jobs and got a promotion at the same time. He's excited. Still in ITS but different area and project that will hopefully keep him busy. However true to corporate form, he had training in June and the project they were supposed to do in July was delayed to sometime later this year. Now he still isn't busy at work.
59. Kitty is still kicking it but lives mostly in our closet. I did take her to the vet and she gained 1/2 pound. We keep getting the 1 year rabies shot instead of the 3 year shot because how much longer can an almost 20 year old cat have? We started the 1 year shots like 4 years ago, go figure.
60. Clay and I have had a few nights out lately and they have been fun. We went out to play shuffleboard one night at a dive bar in town. The shuffleboard you play on a table not the ground although I'm sure I'd play either. We also went out recently with Nathan and Alissa and I made a torch out of empty beer Keeper cups from our table. You may have seen the picture on Facebook. It was Olympic!! We definitely need to do that more often too. (
61. We've been playing a lot of games lately. Chasey prefers Peek-a-boo.
62. Kenley prefers Hulabaloo (how the heck do you spell that?) Google says... Hullabaloo. Mystery solved. Fun game! She even coaxed a tired Grandma B to play last weekend since she looked so sweet.
63. Kenley is getting better taking pictures with the real camera as long as she keeps her finger out of the way.
64. Kenley likes to play baseball like the "mans" on TV and run. And wear their hats.
65. Man I'm so close.... I'm going to just talk about the kids some more. That's what the readers want, right? Kenley inherited my old sunglasses and when she puts them on (usually upside down) she say's "That's stylish!" I have no idea where she hears these things.
66. Miss Sharon is back at the sitter's and that makes us happy. However my kids have been the only kids there full time this summer and often times are the only ones there with Miss Sharon. I guess I like the one on one attention but I wish they had friends to play with. Oh well, school starts soon and the others will be back.
67. This list started as 67 things you may have missed but it was super time consuming and I had to take a break and go to bed and finish it later. It still took another hour tonight and it's way past my bed time.
Bonus!
68. ME (Implying I hope you missed me during my hiatus. I'll try not to make the next one so long but I am doing well and enjoying all the little things each day.
I'm not proof reading this post like I do most of the others. Good night :)
So what to talk about... well there are so many things to talk about even if they are small, so I thought I'd just give you
In completely random order as they come to mind...
