Updates on growing big
Kenley will be 8 months old this week and it seems like she is just growing in leaps and bounds still. We have lots of big girl updates to share.
The first doesn't have a picture or video as it is impossible to catch at this time, but if you stick a finger in Kenley's mouth this update is undeniable. I denied it for a bit but I finally agreed about a week ago.. Kenley hasa tooth TEETH ;o) Her bottom two teeth are coming through. One is a bit further along than the other but they are definitely there and SHARP. They are so cute! I have tried several times to get a picture but it usually ends up looking like this...
So believe me when I tell you that they are there, under that tongue and popping up more every day.
Our other big girl update comes on the mobile front. We are a SCOOTIN'!!! Most of the time it is only for some sort of object that we aren't supposed to have like a cell phone, the remote control, or the cat. It also looks like the "inchworm" method but it works and it's getting her from point A to point B (eventually). Here is some of it that we caught on video.
I am sure that over the next few weeks she will get much better and then LOOKOUT! She can get up on her hands and knees really well but isn't sure what to do other than rock back and forth (trying to catch that on camera too) but I'm sure it will only be a matter of time before she figures it all out. She is just growing up so fast! Why can't they stay little forever?
In other updates, she also now likes to stand while playing which is really cute.
She has also started clapping frequently, which makes us smile. Well okay almost everything she does makes us smile, but still, here is the video ;o)
I am enjoying her grow and learn to do new things. Each day brings a new surprise and even more joy to an already overjoyed life as a mom. I can't wait to see what Kenley has in store around the corner this next month!!

Last weekend and a tease of updates
Last weekend was a busy but wonderful weekend!
Friday, Clay and I had a very adult filled day. We looked at lots and more floor plans on Friday morning (since we are moving towards building a house next spring) and even drew up some floor plans we liked for the builder to sketch out and then price. Friday afternoon we went to the Law offices of Costigan & Wollrab to see an attorney about getting a will set up. We also will be getting POAs for health and property. Oh I feel old!
Saturday, Kenley and I took my friend Kimberly to the work pool party. It was a blast! K skipped her morning nap she was having so much fun. We got to see Mel and Iree as well as Shannon, Lee, Anna, and Reagan too. What fun! Here is a picture of Kenley and I toward the end of the morning.
Saturday afternoon my mom and dad came to watch Kenley. Clay and I went out to lunch and a movie which was a much needed time of relaxation. We went to see "The Other Guys" and I must say I got a good laugh or two out of, which was also much needed after a long week.
Sunday we didn't have any plans but took a nice family walk on the constitution trail to enjoy the weather. Kenley had such a great time and was ALL SMILES!!!!
This week has flown by with few updates. Kenley is enjoying the time at the sitter and eating very well but we need to work on the napping, especially the afternoon nap so that I don't have a crabby apple for the 2 hours a day I get to see her, but I guess it all works out.
We have other updates to post tonight about this past week and today, but Clay's mom and dad are coming tomorrow so we don't want to post them until after the visit (Since Grandpa B will prob see them on the blog tomorrow morning before they get here). I texted my mom and she can't wait to see the new video but she is at a conference so she will have to wait too. Stay tuned! MORE to come this weekend!!!

The War: Day 3
**TMI WARNING: Proceed at your own risk**
I, Kimberly Brockman, have filed suit or should I say declared war against the high production right lactation line for the Brockman Dairy (aka my right boob). That's right. It's me versus a killer clogged milk duct. It started on Wednesday. I decided that it was time to skip the last pump of the night on Sunday. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday went well and I enjoyed my extra free time at night before bed without having to pump and wash my stuff. But Wed morning, the production line went on strike and supply began to back up. I must say that the duct was kicking my ass on day 1 and 2 but I think the tides are changing. I have tried every trick in my book (heat, massage, and even smelly cabbage leaves) and called in reinforcements (Kenley mainly). I even got desparate enough to call the lactation ladies at the hospital again since the nurse at the doctor's office was absolutely no help at all. I was ready to just give up last night, but this morning I think it's starting to clear. (Thank goodness or it may just explode) I have stayed home late the last few days to nurse in the morning and will be leaving work early today so that I can nurse all day too. It is just so frustrating and painful!!! In addition, it stresses me out since I'm barely getting an ounce or two from a side that I used to get nearly 15 ounces from a day. I'm praying my supply stays strong when this gets cleared up or my days of nursing my come to an abrupt end. (Although my freezer is stocked and prepared to provide for my trooper for at least another month) This is also a bad sign too for how difficult it is going to be to wean. If I try to wean too quickly, I will run the risk of facing many more painful days. The lactation consultant did advise to slowly wean by cutting out time at the pump instead of visits to the pump given the situation so my military strategy for the future will need some planning.
If you made it this far on the post, please keep positive thoughts running through your head that this will all work itself out. I've been clogged in the past but only a minor one that I can usually work out in less than a day, so for me to be on day 3 with this battle is very draining. However, I will win (or at least survive).

Close encounters of the Kitty kind...
Kenley discovered a few months ago that something else lives in the house with her, mommy, and daddy. Mostly she would see kitty in passing and not really pay her much attention other than to watch her walk across the room, but lately when kitty comes around Kenley is ecstatic. Kenley immediately lights up with a huge smile and then starts to talk to kitty. It really is the cutest thing. Kitty doesn't much care for it at times but she tolerates it quite well for the old grump she can be. We do allow Kenley to pet kitty with assistance and we have only had a few grabbing of the fur incidents and maybe a loud "leave me alone" meow but there has been no hissing. Here is a video of one of our kitty encounters. Aunt Val and Sophie should really like this one ;o) (Her feet are really going) Oh, and please disregard the fact that I'm in my PJs. It was early Sunday morning ;o)

Toys
Kenley knows where we keep her toys in the living room. Often the basket is on the floor near by so that I can grab a different toy and keep her occupied when needed. However, she has taken to trying to decide for herself what toys she wants. The other day the basket was on the floor and she wanted everything in it.
She would take something out, examine, and toss it aside...
moving on to the next item...
and the next item...
searching deeper and deeper in the little basket...
until finally she looked back to say, "Hey mom, where are all the toys?"

Happy Birthday Grandma C!!!
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday dear Grandma!
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday dear Grandma!
Happy Birthday to you!
Today is my mom's birthday. (Happy Birthday MOM!) I won't tell you how old she is, but she is 31 years older than me ;o) for now. We had my mom and dad up this past weekend to celebrate her birthday. Kenley made her a birthday card and picked out a nice "Grandma and me" frame which was filled with a recent picture.
Then we took them out to lunch at Lonestar. We also thanked my dad for painting our house with a steak lunch. Afterwards we played and hung out with Grandma and Grandpa C. All in all it was a wonderful Saturday. I hope that my mom is having a wonderful birthday today even if she is at work and not near her wonderful granddaughter. We love you mom!!! Happy Birthday!!!
