Dancing Bowling Queens

My sister-in-law and nieces were here for the week last week. The time together went by much too quickly. We miss them already and have several posts worth of pictures and stories but time to share just one tonight :) It was a rainy day Friday so we decided to take them bowling. My MIL and FIL came up to join in the fun.

Sophie had been before but it was a first for Kenley. I may or may not have been beaten by my 2 year old niece but I can come up with several justifications if needed :)

I just wanted to share some videos of the girls and their bowling skills.

Pretty darn cute if you ask me!

Oogie Oogie Oogielove!

A few weeks ago, my mother in law sent an email asking if she could take Kenley to her first movie around Labor Day when this "interactive" movie Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure came out. She saw a preview and thought it looked like fun. There was going to be dancing and singing and she promised it would be fun. I wasn't overly excited but agreed there would be potential that she could take her. Then when my sister-in-law and neices ended up in IL and everyone ended up in Bloomington on the rainy Labor Day weekend, we thought it may be a good time. So off we went to the movie. It was a girls trip.
The girls were excited and although I don't think they knew what they were in for they charged in for the adventure. The plot was about what I expected but the girls seemed to enjoy it. Kenley really got into the interaction (and eating the popcorn!) We made sure Grandma B got up and kept movin' and groovin' too.
At the end we let them out of the row and Kenley took to dancing all over the theater. She really busted out the moves.
Here is the video proof :)

In reality the movie flopped and actually was the worst 3 day opening in history. It only averaged about $207 per theater and we were $30 of it the day we went to our theater. But these 2 year olds and their grandma had a good time. I'll admit too that I enjoyed myself watching Kenley enjoy the experience. It makes a good "first time movie experience." She's already asking to go again!

Applause please

Someone finally figured out how to clap, so I think a round of applause is in order.

Rain...

Today was a rainy day. It was one of those days that begs you to stay in pajamas all day and lounge around on the couch under blankets instead of tackle things on the ever present to do list. It was a day for naps, cuddles and movie marathons or watching "froggies" (Kenley's current favorite show about the alphabet) over and over.  But it held adventure too.

During the rain this morning Kenley asked to walk so she could splash in the puddles. She knew we could take an umbrella and was more than willing to wear her swim shoes and a jacket. I figured what better activity to do on a rainy day but actually enjoy the rain. So "Why Not?" we took a walk in the rain.

It's nice to have someone to walk with you in the rain and splash in the puddles.

Chase bub enjoyed the rain too. We opened the window for a bit and he immediately crawled over to check it out.  He even got a little upset when he couldn't go on the walk with us but he had fun staying behind with Clay.

Weekends just "fly" by...

I don't know about you but we flew thru another weekend here at the Hotel Brockman and like every weekend, it went too fast.

Saturday we had a nice visit from my folks. We did lunch and took Kenley to get her hair cut. It was the 1st time Kenley has sat like a big girl in the chair by herself. Usually she wants to sit on my lap. This time she had some "friends" with her and they all did great sitting up in that chair.
Today the girls went to the park and Sam's while the boys stayed home. This afternoon flew by with naps and now as always it's Sunday night and time to go to bed and face another week. Hope it flys by just as fast and next weekend's fun can begin. Until then...

Fantastic Friday Fair Food Fun

Say that 5 times fast! Friday, Clay and I took off work, drop the kids off at the sitter and went to the State Fair with my inlaws. It was a good time! We hadn't been in a few years and we mainly go for the food so we went ready to eat :)

Liz gave me a good idea that I should photo blog everything we had to eat that day. Looking back it doesn't seem like as much as you might expect but we definitely didn't leave hungry.

Technically we started the day with a bagel and some coffee from Panera and I added a banana to my breakfast. Sorry no picture here.

First item at the fair was a sample of hot dogs from Oscar Mayer. They were part of the new "select" line and very tasty. One had garlic and spices and the other had tomato, dill and something else.
We were stalking out the Wiener-mobile in hopes to get Liz a wiener whistle for Braden. Turns out you had to have your picture taken to "earn" a whistle so, of course we did.
From there we hit the Fried What? stand and I finally tried the infamous fried Snickers bar and Clay had some fried Oreos.
I preferred the Snickers. The Oreos seemed strange since they had no crunch.

Next Clay had a BBQ pork sandwich.  A little light on the sauce but it smelled good.

Instead of porking it up, I went for some standard nachos and a few spicy jalapenos.
Then back to fried food fun. We hit up the mini donuts!
Shook things up with a Lemon Shake UP.
And wrapped up the fair with some Culler's fries with vinegar.

In non-food fair highlights, we enjoyed the beautiful day and the light crowds.

We checked out the "famous" 3 room log home made from a really really REALLY old tree.
Had an utterly fantastic time checking out the 90 year old butter cow :)
And of course checked out all of the animals. Here I just finished feeding the llama. I didn't know my MIL was taking any pictures so she actually caught me talking to it. I look  a little crazy.
ONe of the other things we did was check out the Phineas and Ferb Disney area and the Perry the Platypus Platybus. We even did an interactive and danced with Dr. Doofenshmirtz.
All in all a successful and fun trip to the fair!
